Spring Picks!

Tuesday 18 March 2014

Hello!

So as Spring is upon us, i thought i would do a post that is spring related.. and something that will help me decide and sort through my makeup collection for my top go-to items!

Lets get started!

So the first thing that i want to talk about is a brush. Many of you have probably seen this before anyway as it is a widely spoken brand on YouTube! This is the Stippling Brush from Real Techniques. This was one of the first things that i picked out, simply because it is a really good brush to apply your base with, that doesn't overload your face in foundation. When you think of spring you usually thing about cute colours and natural makeup, so this is perfect to use with a sheer foundation or a BB or CC cream.

Next up for the base makeup is High Beam by Benefit. Now this is a creamy liquid highlighter. When you unscrew the top, it pulls out a brush, kind of like a nail polish. This makes it really easy to apply and once blended in with your finger it produces a natural looking glow, rather than a shimmery sparkle finish. In the picture on the right you can see that i have shown what it looks like when just applied, and then blended in, and it just gives a beautiful glow. A must have for spring.

Now onto the eyes. I have chosen an Avon Glimmer stick, and I have it in the shade 'Majestic Plum'. Now this is a really buildable product. I have a few of these are they are all equally as good. This has a tiny bit of shimmer to it and can blend really well as they are very highly pigmented. They come in a plastic wind up tube which is great for me because i hate sharpening eyeliners and when applied it can be sheered out like the bottom part of the left picture, or built
up for a more dramatic look at night time. All-round great product to have in your collection.

Now as i love my nude shades i have gone for a nice pink nude 'Lip Gloss Wand' by Barry M. This is a really beautiful cool pink colour which looks really lovely on the lips and the formula is not sticky at all. It isn't like a lacquer, so it isn't that highly pigmented but i think that it adds just enough colour to the lips and can be sheered out really easily.

Last but not least is my top three nail picks. These colours have been in my draw for quite a while and last year i wore them all the time so i am hoping to get back into them. The top two are the Gelly Nail Paint's by Barry M. I think these are great, you can get away with just one coat and it will dry really quickly and are perfect colours for spring and summer. The bottom varnish is Essie's Fiji. This is a really nice white-baby pink colour and looks lovely on the nails. However to get a good coverage it will need about three coats, which is a bit annoying.. but expected from the reviews around the internet.

So that's all for my Spring picks for this season, i hope you enjoyed!
