Tuesday 28 January 2014

So today i went out to one of my local towns and i picked up a few items in a couple shops that i thought i'd show you!

So the first shop i went into was New Look, and as its a week day most people are at school/work/college etc, but today is my day off so i thought i would make the most of it!

£15.99

The first thing i picked up in there was this bag. I don't really have an everyday bag at the moment so this is perfect to pack all of my essentials in when out and about! Apparently (according to the label) its called a 'Crosby Croc Flap Sad) which doesn't really make much sense. But it basically has a crocodile print on it and two different handles. It has the small handle on the top which is perfect for grabbing it in a rush or just as a larger handle bag. And the second handle is a long thin strap which is perfect for carrying it over your shoulder or as a cross bag, if you lengthened the straps a wee bit.

£1.99 each or 3 for £4.00!

The second things i picked up were these socks. They were actually on an offer at the time and they were 3 for £4! Which i thought was a bargain.. and i cannot resist one of those. Now the weathers colder i like to wear covered over pump type things on my feet, which are more comfortable in the winter (than dolly shoes anyway), and which also means i can wear more jazzy socks than the plain old black ones from Matalan (which are, by the way, the comfiest socks ever). So of course i had to get some dotty ones, some with a raccoon and some with iguanas on! Perfect

£7.99

The third thing i spotted when i was on the way to the queue was this silky royal blue snood, with some sort of bird on (i am no good with bird names). I thought it was really nice and pretty warm for college when im walking to and from the bus stop with all this wind and rain at the moment. It feels really light and not too heavy, i hate it when scarfs feel like they are weighing you down! They had loads of different patterns and colour too so you should definitely go check em out.

£4.99

The last item that i spotted, which was actually when i was stood in the queue! Was this water bottle, every time i take a used sports bottle or screw top it usually leaks, even if its a tiny bit, and it really started to frustrate me! So i thought i would invest in this and it would make sure my bag doesn't get all sticky and with a nice pattern too! Although the screw top is a bit weird, it will definitely make sure that everything is secure in my bag :)

So after going to New Look i walked up the road and into Boots (i couldn't resist). I also had £18.00 to spend on my Boots advantage card! Thanks Boots!

£6.99

I only picked up two items from boots as i had gone a wee bit over what i was wanting to spend in New Look (oops!). My friend recommended that i should go out and get a BB cream.. I have wanted to try one for a while now but I've settled into my foundation routine quite well and didnt really want to buy anything for the sake of it. But as soon as i saw this, i tried it on and i loved it. It has a really smooth and creamy consistency and, as it says, has 8 things in 1! Can't really get much better than that! For the price anyway. So, like my friend said, it will be perfect for summer! No more fussing around with Moisturiser or Primer or any of that jazz.

£5.60

The last thing that i picked up from Boots was this mug. Even though its not Christmas i don't think it is too christmassy! It will be perfect for my hot chocolates, which if you haven't tried the Aero mint hot chocolate then you haven't lived, at night with all the marshmallows and whipped cream mmm! It isn't too big and it isn't one of those stupid tiny cups that are just enough for those coffee shots bleugh. So i thought this was really handy! Especially with all those humbugs inside.

So that was all i picked up today! I hope it was interesting and not too boring! My nail varnish collection will be up next Tuesday, if all goes to plan, and i will speak on Sunday!

Cheerio!

<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/12300147/?claim=2dck7e6vvp3">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</ Hello!

I'm Laura and i guess on my first post i should do a little introduction to myself.. I'm 16,               from West Midlands and i am currently training to be a hairdresser and really interested in           anything to do with beauty and fashion.

I'm also a big fan of YouTubers, the comedy/youtube band The Midnight Beast and Lady Gaga.     I also don't really have a specific genre of music. So that's what my blog is going to be all           about basically! A real mixture...

I was thinking quite alot about what i should do for the first blog post, but i kept going back to     the same old idea over and over again,

I thought that this could give you insight into what i already have in my collection, which           might make it easier if you wanted to give me any recommendations.

So here it is, My Makeup Collection... So far..

    Foundation

Left - £6.99  ~  Right - £6.99
So these are the two foundations i own at the moment, they are both from the same brand;       Rimmel. I personally think at least one of the two is the best that i have tried from the high-       street range.

On the left there is the Wake Me Up foundation, i think this has a really nice finish to it and         the coverage is really good, it also has an spf.15. There is a pump applicator which i find really     handy as i can never get along with the screw top ones. I have this in the colour Ivory and i       think that it would look really nice in the summer, as it is very dewy and adds a bit of colour to     your face if you are really pale (like me). However, I also think the that the finish can be really     shiny, so you can easily end up looking like Edward Cullen as soon as your face hits harsh           sunlight, especially on oily skin, so i would wear a setting powder with it :)

On the right is the Rimmel Match Perfection foundation, this comes in paler shades than the         Wake me up (which i find brill) and like the last one, has a pump instead of a screw top. I also     think that the glass packaging is really nice, instead of some brands having plastic squeezy         ones. The coverage of this is really nice, and i feel that its nice and build-able if you did need     more, It evens out my skin colour really nicely. I have the colour Classic Ivory, and i find this       perfect for me.

£3.99

This is the only powder that i own at the moment, after trying a few others, i have to say that   this one is by far the best that i have ever tried.. It's by Rimmel, and it is the Stay Matte           pressed powder. I use this over the top of my foundation and concealer and it takes away the     shine and makes it stay in place SO well. I have this in the shade 001 which is translucent, i       find this the best as it wont change the colour of my foundation at all. All for this price.. Could     not be any better!

    Concealers

Left + bottom right - £17.50 (Full version)   ~   Right - £4.19

On the left and bottom right is Benefits boi-ing concealer duo this is (as it says) an industrial strength concealer.. It came in a benefit mini's set that i had for Christmas (from myself) and it has two shades inside, 01 - which is a very light shade and perfect for me and, 02 - which is a bit too dark for me (darker than the picture makes out). This is a really good concealer and hides anything you really really want to cover up. It also blends really nicely and is really build-able.

On the top left is Collection's Lasting Perfection Concealer, this is a really nice and creamy concealer, it does exactly what it says; it lasts and it covers up your blemishes or breakouts perfectly. However make sure you do prime well, especially on your dryer areas because this can cling to your dry patches easily. But overall, this is a really cool and (less expensive) option for a concealer that does what you want :)

Brushes

Far left - £11.99  ~  Middle Left - £7.99  ~  (Right) Left - £9.99  ~  £7.99

The three brushes on the left are from a brand called Real Techniques. I found out about this brand through Jim Chapman on YouTube, his sister created them. Personally they are the best brushes i have ever used, they are synthetic which means that they are easier to wash and they will also dry quicker.

The brushes (as you can see) stand up which is really good for storing them aswell as the design being really appealing. On the far left is the Stippling brush, i like this brush because it disperses whatever product you want to use on it really nicely and it doesn't put things on too heavy as the bristles are all different lengths and separated. Some of the money that you pay when buying this brush also goes to the Breast Cancer Charity.

In the middle of the photo on the left is the Shading Brush, i use this for concealer as it is really small and easy to work with, it picks up all the product and blends really well.

Lastly the far right brush on the left photo is the Expert Face Brush.. You may have heard alot of youtube guru's speak about this brush, including Tanya Burr and Zoella etc. This is perfect for foundation in my opinion, it spread it around your face and makes your complexion look so even and no brush lines at all. A really good quality brush.

The picture on the right a brush from a brand called Eco-Tools, i find this brush really soft and lovely to apply blush and my setting powder with, it blends everything really easily and again is synthetic so easy to wash and dry. Overall this is a really nice brush and people should definitely talk about it more :)

Mascara

Far Left - £7.99  ~  Middle Left - £19.50 (full)  ~  Middle Right - £7.99  ~  Far Right - £6.19
On the far left is The Falsies by Maybelline, this mascara was the first mascara that i bought for myself that i found amazing. It has a curved brush wand and it volumises just to look like false lashes. I have quite short top lashes so this makes them look like they actually exist (which is great). I have the flared version, but you can also get other versions such as the waterproof version. The only down side of this is that your lashes clump easily, so if you don't mind spending some time on your lashes in the morning, then this one is definitely great.

On the middle left is Benefit's They're Real, as alot of people say, this mascara is brilliant, it extends your lashes, it doesn't make them clumpy, it doesn't make them too 'spidery' (unless you have really long lashes), and they stay up all day, with no fall down. Doesn't this sound like the perfect mascara? However its a little bit on the pricey side. But not AS pricey as some of the high-end ones. If you're thinking of giving it a go, i couldn't recommend it enough.

On the middle right section is Maybelline's The Rocket, this is a nice mascara, but for me personally i don't think this gives enough lift.. As i said before i have really short lashes so im so grateful when i do get a high lifting mascara. But this does work for my friend and she has really long lashes, it separates them nicely and it doesn't make them too clumped together.. just in-between. If you're going to go for this mascara i would definitely try it out before buying.

Finally on the far right is Barry M's Intense Black Mascara. I recently went to the Clothes Show (well last year) with my college as a trip and brought this home in one of my Barry M goody bags. I haven't tried it all that much but so far so good. It separated the lashes really nicely and makes them look really full. However i haven't been using it enough to do a full review on it yet. If anyone would like a review then please leave a comment saying so :) (also go to the clothes show its amazing)

Lip Products

Far right - £1.69(top) £2.29(bottom)  ~  Middle - £2.99  ~  Right - £2.10
On the far right are the Nivea Moisturizing Lip Balms the top one is just a plain moisturizer, and then the bottom one has a slight pearly tint to it. It is really sheer and no where near as pink as that. They are both really handy so keep in your handbag or purse and carry around with you when your lips get dry or chapped. They leave your lips feeling really moisturized and nourished.

In the middle Maybelline's Baby Lips, the top one is just a clear moisturizing balm like the Nivea ones and the bottom one has quite alot of colour in it. It would be perfect for the summer but not so good in the winter as it is quite bright and a very light bright pink. I find these really nice and smooth to put on and they make my lips feel really nice. They also smell great, however i feel that after using them for a long period of time they start to make my lips even more dry than they are because my lips get so used to it.

On the right is the Nivea Lip Butter, i find all of the range of these really nice. I also have the Raspberry Rose version and i find that it smells of the strawberry/raspberry starbursts (Mmm!). Everything about this product is really nice and they are so creamy to put on and they leave your lips feeling as smooth as anything!

    Primer

Left - £24.50  ~  Right - £12.50

On the left is Benefit's POREfessional, this primer is amazing. It goes on so smoothly and it also has a slight colour to it which doesn't really effect the colour of your face when you put it on so you can use it by itself or under your concealer and foundation. I really helps your foundation stay and it will not budge through the whole of the day. I would highly recommend this, however there is a dupe by Maybelline Baby Skin primer. I am yet to give this a try so i will do a review for y'all!

On the right is the Stay Perfect primer by No7, this was the first primer i ever owned and i used it for my prom. I find it really good on my skin and it is really creamy. I don't find it as good as Benefit's, but it is really good, and so much better for the money. So i would recommend this as another option :)

Eyeliner

(left to right) 1st - £3.99 ~ 2nd - £5.00 ~ 3rd+4th - £6.00 (each) ~ 5th - £4.00 (ish)
The first from the left is the Rimmel Scandal Eyes, this is a liquid liner pen, it has a super thin tip on it and as you can see from the picture on the right it is super black. It is highly pigmented and dries really quickly, and is also super easy to use. The only downside, for me, is that the tip can get soft quite quickly so it can get harder to get a smooth line.

The second from the left is Soap and Glory's Smoulder Kohl pencil, i have the waterproof one in brown or Cocoa Bean, i find this a really nice change from a harsh black and it draws so well! The lid also has a sharpener on the end which makes it so handy to carry around in your makeup bag as you don't need anything else but this product! It is also super creamy and doesn't tug your eye when you're putting it on! Overall these are fab.

Third and forth from the left are the Avon Glimmer-sticks. I have these in the shades... Saturn Grey and Majestic Plum I find these so lovely and so blendable, they can either be used as a upper liner or a eye-shadow, they're perfect for parties and shimmer in the light. Also they aren't as a pencil, you have to twist to push them up, so theres no need to carry a sharpener around with you. They last ages too! However they do not stay on your waterline, which is a bit annoying.

Lastly is the Models Own Eyeliner. I got this in one of my Models Own goody bags from the Clothes Show Live 2013, it is a really matte black colour and it wont budge when you have it on (which can make it a bit annoying when you want to take it off) but overall its a great pencil. I cant give much of a review as i haven't used it enough yet.

Palettes and Sets

Left - £23.50 ~ Middle - £7.99 ~ Right - £7.00
On the Left is Benefit's Realness of Concealness, It has high beam, which is a highlighter, ooh la lift, which will 'de-puff' your eyes and lip plump.. which will plump your lips. Then on the right there is a primer and the boi-ing concealer, featured earlier. These i got with my phone when i was around 11. I didnt use them very much but then i got into the brand about a year ago and really started to use them again. They are really good quality and do everything they say they will do.

In the middle is the Sleek Palette. I have this in Storm 578. These are all really beautiful colour, they range from nudes to shimmers and to the basic browns and blacks. The colour at the back that looks quite white is actually a lovely champagne colour, it is so shimmery and highly pigmented, like all of them. The packaging is beautiful and i would recommend any of these palettes to anyone.

On the right is the Luxe eye shadow palette in Glamorous Roses from Avon. I find this really nice as it has a highlight colour in the center and really buildable colours around the outside which would be perfect for an everyday look or can be transformed into a evening look really easily. The packaging is bright gold and looks really expensive! It also feels extremely pigmented and i wouldn't be surprised if it was mistaken for high-end.

Blush + Highlighter

Right - £24.50 ~ Left - £8.00

£19.50
In the top left hand picture is Benefit's Benetint. This is a liquid blush that is literally perfect for any look. You can build it up to make a stronger blush or add the tiniest bit to make it look really feminine and fresh. It also comes with a brush, kinda like a nail varnish.. It feels weird to be putting it on your cheeks at first but everything becomes clear when you do. You just blend it in with your finger and you're good to go! Although.. a bit on the pricey side i must say.

On the top right picture is No7's Natural Blush in Soft Damson. I bought this blush originally for my prom last year, but i really like it, it is so natural and doesn't look like you have put a blusher on. It just looks like you have a bit of colour in your cheeks. It is a lovely alternative for Benefits benetint anyway.

On the bottom picture is Benefit's High Beam highlighter. This is by far the best i have ever used, although on the pricey side.. i think its worth it, definitely. It lasts for ages and i only have the mini version and i have hardly used any. I use this on the tops of my cheek bones and T bone area whenever i go out or have to dress up nice.. Not necessarily for college, but it is definitely wearable for everyday. Couldn't recommend more!

Well that was a bit of a long winded one (sorry) they will definitely be alot shorter than this in future.. I thought that this would clear up what i have and what i haven't got already!

Thank you for reading! Especially if you have gotten this far! Eeek!

Back next week :)
