The Face of 2014

Sunday, 11 January 2015

So instead of doing a 2014 favourites like most people are probably doing at this time of the year, i thought i would do a 'My Face of 2014' where i show you my favourite products of the year which are all combined into one makeup look!

First up is the base makeup, now I'm not a huge fan of foundations (even though i do own quite a few, confessions of a beautyholic), so i usually use a couple of concealers to just correct anything that is in my way, along with a good old primer to lock everything in place for the day.

Recently i have been using the No7 Stay Perfect primer. This is a lot more affordable than Benefit's POREfessional and it does the job in exactly the same way! You also get more product in my eyes! So i usually sweep about a pea size of this onto my face with my fingers and then move onto the concealer.

The two concealers i use are the Collection Lasting Perfection in Fair 01 and the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly. They both have the same kind of coverage with the collection maybe having the edge a little bit. The only difference is that the collection one is a wee bit dark for me, even though it is it's lightest shade, so i usually mix the two, blend them in with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush and the jobs a good'un! (I also use these underneath my eyes)

(Apologies for the awful photo, my camera is playing up grrr)

Now to set everything in place i will use Soap and Glory's Kick Ass powder from this little concealer set i have, to be honest, i really am not keen on the concealers! Probably because they are, again, too dark for me, even in their lightest shade!

I sweep the translucent powder over my concealer with my Real Techniques setting brush (left) and then over my T-Zone and other oily areas with the Real Techniques Blush Brush (right). Perfect combo!

Now moving onto eyes. Usually i will just stick with a bit of mascara and maybe a bit of smudged out liner but on some occasions when i am feeling a bit more confident, i'll whack out the good old Naked 2.

The shades i use from this palette are, Foxy - to highlight and blend with; Tease - for the crease and Snakebite - the main colour. I pack the colour onto my lids using the Real Techniques Shading brush (purple) and then i will blend everything together with the fluffy end of the brush that comes with the palette!

I then also usually sweep a small line of Rimmel's black liner in Starlit Black and Smudge it out with the shading brush aswell as applying a couple of coats of Benefit's They're Real mascara.

(Again, apologies for the quality of this photograph :( )

If i am feeling like a little bit of a blush and lip combo, i usually pair up these two and they compliment each other so well!

I sweep a small amount of the No7 Blush in Soft Damson using the Real Techniques Blush brush and then i apply the Barry M lip gloss (which apparently doesn't have a shade name).

And this is the finished look! Simple yet perfect for everyday to me!

This was taken after a whole day of wear!
